Decorations can make a room feel like home which is a grave necessity in college to avoid home sickness. It brings a newfound sense of comfort to the living space in order for the tenant to feel safe and at home. Without it. The individual may not do as well in school, feeling out of place and uncomfortable in their generic, bland room. However, with decorations, the student has appropriate distraction from their home sickness and the concentration to focus more on their school work.
Many students feel a sense of home sickness when they leave off to college. For many students, it is there first time away from home for such a long period of time. With this in mind, countless students make themselves a room body, leaving their room simply to attend class. The unwelcoming or lack of decoration in a room can intensify the feeling of the student being out of place in their own living space. For this reason, it is imperative that the student have the proper items that bring them enough comfort in order for them to avoid falling into pits of depression due to the distance away from home. Décor can make a room more comfortable, not only mentally, but physically as well. Dorm beds are not the softest clouds and for this reason, a nice thick comforter and an pillows could make a great change. Replacing the wooden desk chair with a nicer, padded office chair could also be a great investment.
Décor is important for numerous reasons. Mentally and physically, décor can change not only the look of the room but also the mentality of the individual residing in it.
Home decor, to me is not just a couple of decorations you put up to fill empty space. It's a way of life, a right of passage, a transition from young child to mature young adult. Home decor has made a difference in my life since I got my own room in my house, I no longer had to share a room with another person and I could decorate it however I want. It has defined who I am as a person and anyone who comes into my room can see what kind of person I am and cannot judge me about how my room is decorated because it's my room. Southwestern home décor and rugs hold an extra special place in my heart.
Home decor really made an impact on my life when I was transitioning from middle school to high school. I was becoming a young woman and I knew that I had to get rid of some of the more childish things around my room. It was a big deal around this time because I knew I would be having friends over more often and I wanted to have a chill and relaxing environment. Although I didn't have many friends over, I still wanted to make my room feel fun. As the years went by I added and took away many things from my home decor, many things that have helped me become who I am today.
There are many stages of life that a teenage girl will go through, and she will always have that stuffed animal to hold when she's sad, or an old picture to look at to remember good times. Whatever the case may be, our room is our comfort zone and decor makes everything seem a little more comfier. As time draws by there are a numerous amount of times a girl will change the decor of her room and no matter what she does to it, it will always be home and nothing beats home.
